Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has initiated a thorough investigation into the alleged murder of Andrew Ochekwo, the prime suspect in the disappearance of two friends, Celine and Afiba. The investigation is led by the Monitoring Unit with a two-week deadline to deliver a comprehensive report.
Public Relations Officer ACP Muyiwa Adejobi announced on June 10 that the investigation will delve into the roles played by the initial investigation team in Abia State and the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (IGP-IRT). This decision comes amid widespread allegations and the significant public interest surrounding the case.
The Inspector General emphasized the need for professionalism and integrity throughout the investigation process, urging the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to proceed without interference. He also called on individuals with relevant information to come forward, ensuring that all provided information would be treated with strict confidentiality.
The Nigeria Police Force appreciates public cooperation and promises to provide timely updates as the investigation progresses. Nigerians have reacted with mixed feelings, some expressing hope for justice and transparency, while others remain skeptical about the investigation's outcome.
The public is closely watching the developments, reflecting the case's high profile and the gravity of the allegations involved.
